Shirley Baker Simpson, age 78, of 421 Revere Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, May 30, 2016 at Abingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Abingdon.

She was born November 22, 1937 in Clifton Forge to the late Jehu and Vanna Tucker Baker.

She was a retired secretary for Central United Methodist Church and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Mayfield Simpson, Jr., and a brother, Emmett Baker.

She is survived by a son, David Alan Simpson and wife, Donna of Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Sharon Dabanah of Duram, NC; a granddaughter, Courtney Simpson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
