Kathy Renee Bess, 57, formerly of Decatur, GA, died Monday June 20, 2016.

Miss Bess was born November 9, 1958 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the Lena Brown Bess and the late Melvin Stanley Bess.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by two half-brothers, Norman Bess and Ryland Bess, and one half-sister, Thelma Korman.

She worked as an attorney for years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

She was an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed reading books, watching movies, and traveling, but above all she loved her mother the most.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a half-sister, Charlotte Offerman of Akron, OH; many dear friends including Joe Gold and wife, Karen of Savannah, GA, Craig Frankel and wife, Janna Eplan-Frankel of Atlanta, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating assisted by the Rev. Donald Earwood.

The family will receive friends Friday morning one hour prior to service time. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Edgemont Presbyterian Church.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
