Obituary for Jerry Coleman Ramsey Jerry Coleman Ramsey
Nelson County Native Was Dominion Power Retiree

Jerry Coleman Ramsey, age 67 of Waynesboro, Virginia, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on July 15, 1948, in Nelson County, Virginia, and was the son of the late Coleman and Pauline Fitzgerald Ramsey.

Jerry was a retired Lineman/Supervisor with Dominion Virginia Power Company, having served 34 years with the company.

He was also an avid sports fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca McCulley Ramsey and a brother, James L. Ramsey.

He is survived by three daughters, Christine Arey and husband, Jeff, Marla Ailstock and husband, T.J., both of Waynesboro, and Christa Cornwell and husband, Tracy of Lexington; one son, Scott Ramsey and Fiancee Beverly Wilson of Staunton; three brothers, Jacqy Ramsey and wife, Arlene of Gloucester, Claude Ramsey and wife, Linda of Staunton, and Michael Ramsey of Mobjack, Va.; a sister-in-law, Linda M. Ramsey of Georgetown, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Jason Arey, Courtney Arey, Megan Arey, Breckon Farrar, Morgan Arey, Coleman Farrar, Dalton Farrar and Derik Lonas; three great grandchildren, Daelan, Levi, Caroline; a special friend and sister-in-law Karen Bowles; and his beloved dog, "Gus".

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Arey, Coleman Farrar, Dalton Farrar, Jakob Long, Patrick McCrary and Chris Daugherty.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggest that memorial tributes in Jerry's name take the form of contributions to AHC Hospice of Shenandoah, P. O. Box 215, Fishersville, Virginia 22939, or the American Cancer Society, 1700 MacCorkle Ave, S.E., Charleston, West Virginia, 25314.
