Obituary for James Leroy Goode, Sr. James Leroy Goode, Sr.
MeadWestvaco Boiler Room Retiree Was Pine Street Baptist Church Member

James Leroy Goode, Sr., 80 of 135 N. Monroe Ave., Covington, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

He was born August 12, 1935 in Virginia, a son of the late Hampton and Hattie Goode.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Goode was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Goode retired from MeadWestvaco in the Boiler Room.

He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church, where was a member of the Men's Fellowship and the Usher Board. He was a dedicated family man, an avid outdoorsman, and a huge Washington Redskins fan.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Doris Umbles Goode of Covington; six children, James L. Goode, Jr. of Hopewell; John Goode and his wife, Yvette of Covington; Abraham Almeen Goode of Fort Washington, Jennifer Cobb Hill and Larry, Jr. of Covington, Rhonda Goode of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Melissa Goode of Covington; nine grandchildren: Maurice Goode and Jaron Goode, both of Covington; Candice Walker and husband, Daryl Smith of Roanoke; Latronda Cobb of Salem; Jamie Cobb of Princeton, WV Larry Hill III, Joshua Hill, and Nicholas Hill, and Corey Goode, all of Covington; five great grandchildren: Alivia Cooper of Clifton Forge, Ethan Cobb of Princeton, WV, Maurinna Goode of Covington, Faith Smith and Elijah Smith, both of Roanoke; a brother, Eddie Goode of Clifton Forge; two nieces, Elaine Goode and Peggy Ham, both of Glen Wilton; a nephew, Leon Goode and his wife, Jackie of Clifton Forge, and a number of special friends.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete as of this time, but will be handled by the Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
