Sarah Woods Lewis Boyd, 93, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her home.

Born November 5, 1922 in Roanoke, she was a daughter of the late Edgar John Lewis and Maude Loury Lewis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James P. Boyd, Sr.

Sarah was a member of High Bridge Presbyterian Church, and Glasgow Presbyterian Church.

Sarah also participated in the Glasgow Garden Club, and Rockbridge Retired Teachers Association. Before Sarah retired, she taught in the Buchanan and Natural Bridge schools.

Mrs. Lewis was a timekeeper for Norfolk & Western Railroad.

Surviving are her children, Barbara Ann Boyd, James P. Boyd, Jr., Phillip E. Boyd, and wife, Judith; a step grandson, Kevin L. Heflin; and a granddaughter, Sarah Gail Thompson, and husband, Nathan.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday August 23, 2016 at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem VA, with the Rev. Jason Grimes officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
