Lewisburg Resident Was Tempa Baptist Church Member

Ms. Vada Mae Sears Smith, age 73, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the White Sulphur Springs Center-Genesis, White Sulphur Springs, WV.

Ms. Smith was born November 26, 1942 in Hinton, WV. Her biological mother was the late Vernell Garten and her parents were Daniel Green Sears and Alda Geneva Buckland Sears.

She was a homemaker.

A Christian who loved the Lord, Ms. Smith was a member of Tempa Baptist Church, where she helped with church functions and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed singing and helping others, but most of all, she loved her family.

Ms. Smith is survived by two daughters, Mary Dickson and husband, Richard of Covington and Ruth Buckland of Lewisburg, WV; two sons, David Buckland of Lewisburg, WV, James Buckland and wife, Delores of Lawrenceville, GA; a daughter-in-law, Janet Buckland, wife of the late John Buckland, of Alderson, WV; twelve grandchildren, Jessie Snyder and wife, Shannelle, Robbie Buckland and wife, Tracy, Steven Dickson, Brittni Buckland, Derek Buckland, Angel Buckland, Charlie Dickson, John Buckland, Hunter Buckland, Joscelyn Buckland, Patrick Buckland and John Buckland, II; five great grandchildren, Cheyenne A. Snyder, Zachary Leach, Jacklyne Snyder, Kayelynn Dickson and Zayden Dickson; two brothers, Vernard Sears and wife, Judy of Beckley, WV and Duane Sears and close companion, Peggy of Toledo, OH; three sisters, Lola Sears-Music of Toledo, OH, Eleanor Riffle and husband, Jim of Toledo, OH, Melody Sears Seldon and husband, Joe of Michigan; a step-brother, Donald Ward, Jr.; and step-sister, Millie Davis and husband, Mike.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Robert Lee Buckland; a son, John Buckland; and a beloved sister in heaven, Shelby M. Sears.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Tempa Baptist Church.
