Longtime Hoke Chapel United Methodist Church Member Dies At Age 99

Regenia Susan Mann Ervine, 99, of 4523 Midland Trail, Covington, Virginia died Saturday September 24, 2016 at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Clifton Forge.

She was born February 12, 1914, at Callaghan, the sixth child of the late John Preston Mann and Inez Byer Mann.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ervine was preceded by her husband, Randolph Ervine on May 1, 1992, her son, Randolph D. "Peaches" Ervine on October 12, 1992, and also by four brothers, William Mann, John Mann, Nixon Mann and Paul Mann, Sr., and her sister, Ruby Plymale.

She was a longtime member of the Hoke Chapel United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday School classes for children, youth or adults for over seventy-five years.

She had served as President of the Staunton District Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church; Treasurer of the Staunton District Woman's Society and Secretary of Children's Work of the Virginia Conference Woman's Society.

She was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp, the Engineering and Golf and Grounds Department of The Greenbrier, Boys Home, Alleghany County Treasurer's Office and operated the Woodlands Antiques Shop from her home.

Surviving are two grandsons, Timothy D. Ervine and Jay Ervine and his wife, Stephanie, all of Callaghan; one granddaughter, Marcie Skidmore, and her husband, Jeremy of Callaghan; eight great grandchildren, Alison Ervine, Casey Ervine, Colby Skidmore, Tanner Skidmore, Mariah Skidmore, Kardyn Skidmore, Emily Wright and Allyson Ripley; one great great granddaughter, Braylee Parr; a beloved nephew, John R. "Dick" Plymale and his wife, Shirley, and a special niece, Carolyn Milmoe and her husband, Pat; and a number of cousins, nieces, nephews and her beloved Hoke Chapel and Callaghan community family.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frank Sizemore officiating assisted by Pastor Nancy Palmer.

The interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Salyers, Leonard Smith, Jr., Lewis Kirby, Sidney Kirby, Thomas Ayers, Bill Fleming and Monty Hayslett. Alternates will be Regenia's grandsons, great grandsons and other friends of Hoke Chapel and Fletcher Chapel Churches.

The family will receive friends one jour prior to service time on Wednesday at the Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
