Clifton Forge Native Was Retired Moody School Cook

Beulah Mae Broughman Brown, 92, of the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia, formerly of 331 Prospect Street, Covington, died Thursday September 29, 2016 at the Woodlands.

She was born July 25, 1924 in Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late Harry Clayton and Tressie Mae Fridley Broughman.

She worked as a cook for many years at the former Moody School in Clifton Forge. She also worked at the Clifton Forge Steam Laundry and did residential housekeeping.

She loved gardening and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Taft Brown, Sr., a son, Clarence Taft Brown, Jr., daughter, Chrystal Brown, and eight brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Brown, of Clifton Forge; seven sons, Bruce Paxton and wife, Anna, Donald Brown and wife, Kathy, Richard Brown and wife, Rosalyn, Michael Brown and wife, Susie, Patrick Brown, Patrick James Brown, and Everett Brown, all of Covington; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes her body will be cremated, and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
