Helen Louise Smith Hardy, 94, Magnolia Manor, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, a resident of Covington, Virginia for over 65 years, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Magnolia Manor Extended Care in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Born in Cheriton, Va., on the eastern shore, she was the daughter of the late John and Cora Smith.

She was a dedicated wife and homemaker, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her love for everyone was represented by her caring nature.

She was member of the First Presbyterian Church in Covington, Va.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John "Johnny" Harvey Hardy, Jr.; her sister, Julia Wright; brothers, Alvin and Grandville Smith; and great grandson Reid Huffman.

Survivors include daughter, Martha Hardy Huffman, of Shellman Bluff, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, John "Jay" Harvey Hardy III and Kay of Stallings N.C.; Steven Michael Hardy and Marcia of Shellman Bluff, Ga.; granddaughters: Alyson Leigh Hardy Mountcastle and husband, Kevin, of Prosper, Tx., Melissa Hardy Altman and husband, David, of Goodview, Va; grandsons: Jeffery Dean Huffman and wife, Cameron, of Roanoke, Va.; Mark Hardy Huffman of Smyrna, Ga.; Grant David Huffman and wife, Maria, of Corpus Christi, Tx.; John Harvey Hardy IV of Roanoke, Va.; Steven Michael Hardy II of Savannah, Ga.; great – grandchildren: Hardy, Heyden and Holt Mountcastle; Shay, Sophia, Parker, David and Elena Huffman; Luke, Hope and Lauren Altman; sister-in-law, Mary Hardy O'Neill, of Covington, Va ; brother-in-law, Jack Hardy, of Covington, Va., as well as many nieces and nephews.

The inurnment of her cremains will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, Va., at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016.

A celebration of Helen's life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Cucci's Restaurant, 566 E. Madison Street, Covington, Va. 24426.
