Zernie Norma Phillips Nicely, age 82, of 608 Railroad Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, in Low Moor.

She was born September 12, 1934 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Lonnie Harry Williams Phillips and Margaret Loan Phillips.

She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for the former Taylor Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose and enjoyed gardening.

She was a member of Iron Gate Advent Christian Church and a Christian woman who loved God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Lynn Nicely; a grandson, "Little Dale" Nicely; a sister, Darlene Hickman; and a brother, John Phillips.

She is survived by three daughters, Norma Jean Nicely of Iron Gate, Linda Darlene White and husband, Jim of Iron Gate, and Pam Novakovida and husband, Dan of Florida; three sons, Dale Nicely and wife, Susan of Botetourt County, Jake Nicely III and wife, Gail of Iron Gate, and Ronnie Nicely and wife, Stacey of Covington; a sister, Connie Carter; five brothers, Lonnie Phillips, Ronnie Phillips, Joseph Phillips, Clinton Phillips, and Charlie Phillips; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and her special caregivers, Gloria Jones, Debbie Kincaid, Cindy, and Denia Taliaferro.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Clinton Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service.

The family will receive friends on Monday morning, one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
