Obituary for Robert Leo Rexrode Robert Leo Rexrode
Monterey Native Worked With Lexington Telephone Company And Sprint Telecommunications

Robert Leo Rexrode, 81, of Lexington, Virginia died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his home.

He was born August 9, 1935 in Monterey, Virginia, a son of the late Ira Rexrode and Maggie Rexrode.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two wives, Norma Nuckols Rexrode and Fay Campbell Rexrode; three brothers, Thomas, Samual, and Douglas Rexrode; one sister, Eva R. Quist; and one grandson, Davis Rexrode Timberlake.

After graduating from Monterey High School, he began his career with the Lexington Telephone Company, and then retired from Sprint Telecommunications after thirty-eight years of service.

Robert was also a farmer who raised cattle.

He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed gardening, hunting turkeys, deer, and birding.

Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Timberlake (Ron Whitelaw); one son, Daniel R. Rexrode (Monica); one step daughter, Wanda Ayers (Glenn); two brothers, Elbert Rexrode (Eleanore); Dale Rexrode; one sister, Louise Rexrode; two grandchildren, Megan Wright (Donnie); Matthew Rexrode (Desiree); two step grandchildren; Tracy Ayers (Heather); Tammy Ronhy (Barry); one great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at Monterey Cemetery in Monterey, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Robert to the Monterey United Methodist Church, c/o Treasurer, P. O. Box 382, Monterey, VA 24465.

The family will receive friends 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
