Obituary for Louise Wiseman Stuart Louise Wiseman Stuart
Longtime George Marshall Museum Director Dies At Age 90

Louise Wiseman Stuart, 90, of Lexington, Virginia, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Havenwood.

Born April 5, 1927 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Tolerace James Wiseman and Sadie Reese Wiseman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Griffith Stuart.

Mrs. Stuart was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church.

Louise retired from Virginia Military Institute after thirty-five years of service as the Museum Director for the George C. Marshall Foundation, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her two children, Patty Stuart Knick and husband Gerald of Lake Ridge, Va., James Wilson Stuart and wife, Nancy of Buckingham, Va.; three grandchildren, Paul Stuart Knick, Cory Christopher Knick, Jamie Carrington Stuart; five great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery and a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Lexington Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Klein officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Louise to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington or to the V.M.I. Foundation, 319 Letcher Avenue, Lexington, VA 24450.
