Martha Lewis Wilkerson, 83, of 4403 Dunlap Creek Road, Covington, Virginia, died Monday, August 14, 2017 at Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

She was born August 22, 1933 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Lee and Edith Birley Lewis.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Wilkerson, in 2014 and also by three sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of the former Dunlap Creek Home Demonstration Club, a founding member of the former Dunlap Creek 4-H Club, a member of the Rainbow Garden Club and a lifetime member of Palestine Presbyterian Chapel, where she served as an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Wilkerson and his wife, Mitzi, and Dale A. Wilkerson, all of Covington; two daughters, Donna English and her husband, Harry of Moneta and Peggy Parks and her husband, William of Concord, NC; five grandchildren, Brian McGuire of Moneta; Ashley English of Daleville, Travis Parks of Concord, NC, Erin and Owen Wood of Buena Vista and Mason and Ashley Wilkerson of Covington; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte Wilkerson of Wickliffe, KY, Janet Rider of White Sulphur Springs, WV and JoAnna Cooke of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

The interment will follow in Palestine Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive their friends Thursday evening, August 17, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.
