Obituary for Virginia Ream Shiflett Virginia Ream Shiflett
Michigan Native Dies At Age 70

Virginia Ream Shiflett, age 70, of 1710 Main Street, Clifton Woods Apartment 107, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany.

She was born January 5, 1947 in Michigan to the late Calvin Robert and Kathleen Broughman Ream.

She was a homemaker throughout her life, and was a waitress for Top Notch Drive Inn.

She attended First Christian Church Disciples in Christ of Clifton Forge.

She was an avid Redskins and Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed playing BINGO, and loved dinners with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roger D. Ream.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kay of Covington; two sons, Robert Shiflett and wife, Andrea of Covington, and Jeffrey Shiflett and wife, Jacklyn of Clifton Forge; a sister, Patricia Ream Cobb and companion, William of Elliston; six grandchildren, Brandon C. Kelley, Christopher R. Haynes and wife, Janessa, Chase X. Cooper, Olivia R. Shiflett, Izayah J. Shiflett, and Julius A. Shiflett; a great grandchild, Jennisys E. Haynes; a nephew, Carl A. Cobb; and special friends, Tom Oliver and Priscilla Thomas.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Roger Bush officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society to support breast cancer awareness and research.
