Obituary for Ralph M. Hostetter Ralph M. Hostetter
VMI Buildings & Grounds Retiree Dies At Age 87

Ralph M. Hostetter, 87, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Oct. 20, 2017 at Augusta Health, after a short illness and hip surgery.

He was born Nov. 23, 1929, to Robert S. and Lucy C. Hostetter.

His loving wife, Sadie Moore Hostetter preceded him in death, as well as his six brothers, Ellis, Mason, Oscar, Herbert, Earnest, and Preston, and two sisters, Geneva Scott and Kathleen Clark.

He is survived by one sister, Ethel Sweet Wright (Thurman), sister-in-law, Sandi Shiplett, nephew, Jason Hartless, and a great-nephew, Cole Hartless, as well as his dog, Pepper. He is also remembered by many other special nieces, nephews, and neighbors.

Ralph was a lifetime member of Lauderdale A. R. Presbyterian Church and retired from Virginia Military Institute buildings and grounds after 31 years of service.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling, III officiating. There will be no visitation. The service will conclude at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
