Obituary for Rebecca Joyce Lehmann Rebecca Joyce Lehmann
Alderson Resident Dies At Age 79

Rebecca Joyce Lehmann, 79, of Alderson, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.

Born on November 15, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Cody Grimmett and Ruby McCallister Grimmitt Richmond.

As a young child Joyce spent a lot of time on Muddy Creek Mountain with maternal grandparents, Emory and Mamie Phillips McCallister. She had many cousins that were always available to keep her entertained.

She was a graduate of Alderson High School. Classmates were always visiting and calling. She was loved by many.

After high school, she worked a variety of places. She married Charles David Lehmann and began a wonderful life as wife, mother to Susan and was a homemaker.

Joyce was a strong-willed person, very independent and willing to help anyone she met. She took care of her husband when he was ill and after his death, she continued the role of care-giver with her mother, Ruby until her passing. A few years later her only daughter died, which was about the end for her. She endured many health problems and always insisted she could do it herself and she always did.

She and her late husband, Charles David Lehmann, owned and operated an electronics business in Waynesboro, VA, for many years before selling and returning to her native West Virginia.

She was a proud, longtime member of Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles David Lehmann, a daughter, Dr. Susan Lehmann Griffin, and a brother, Rodney Grimmett.

Survivors include her grandchildren, David Griffin and Hannah Griffin; and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Grimmett. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, WV, with Pastor Bill Bryan officiating. Burial will follow The Alderson Cemetery (Fletcher Addition) in Alderson.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in her memory be made to Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, 301 N. Monroe Street, Alderson, WV 24910.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
