Kerry (Coach) Landon Camper Sr., 82, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at his residence.

He was born March 6, 1935 in Botetourt County, he was a son of the late Morris Edwin Camper and Daisy Lena Harlow Camper.

Kerry was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, June Lawhorn Camper; sons, Kerry "Landon" Camper Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Glasgow, Darrell Wayne Camper and wife, Kim of Troy; daughter, Lorena Camper Flint and husband, Kelly, of Wilson, N.C.; brother, Sammy Camper and wife, Joyce, of Sanford, N.C.; twin sister, Peggy Shaver and husband, Boyd, of Roanoke; nine grandchildren, Megan, Ian, Melanie, Thorin, Anna Kathleen, James, Kayla, Will and Robbie; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Moran and husband, Lonnie, and Brenda Shackelford and husband, Stan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Coach Camper is also survived by the countless number of students, players, fans, and citizens of Buena Vista whom he helped, mentored, and supported over the years.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Buena Vista Baptist Church by Pastor Bryon LePere.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at Parry McCluer Middle School auditorium.
