Clifton Forge Native Was Self-Employed Handyman

Aubrey Clift Washington, age 59, of 913 Main Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

He was born March 5, 1958 in Clifton Forge to Otis Franklin Washington, Sr. and the late Mable Reid Washington.

He was a self-employed handyman, and took pride in caring for his father. He was loved by his many friends, and could often be seen riding his bicycle around town, always ready with a joke and a smile for everyone he met.

He was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School, where he played basketball. He loved watching basketball and was a Washington Redskins fan.

In addition to his mother, Aubrey was preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon Rand Washington and a sister, Aurelia W. Jenkins.

He is survived by his father, Otis F. Washington, Sr. of Clifton Forge; a brother, Otis F. Washington, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; four sisters, Beatrice W. Edwards of Woodbridge, Dorothy Hicks of Woodbridge, Sharon Marie Washington of Alexandria, and Ericka W. Romain of Clinton, MD; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and his special friends, Curtis Davenport of Gala and Roy Webb of Roanoke.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 12:00 noon in Main Street Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Preston Tyler officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Main Street Baptist Church. Following the service, his body will be cremated.

Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
