She attended Central School, Lewisburg, High School, West Virginia University, and the Medical College of Virginia, where she received her R.N. degree.

After she returned home, she worked in the Greenbrier Clinic, The Greenbrier Manor, and then as a Greenbrier County Health Nurse for 10 years. She retired as the nurse at Anthony Correctional Center after many years of service there.

Ruth could often be found active in her yard enjoying her vegetables, flower gardens, and fruit trees and in her kitchen making her famous sourdough bread, which she shared with friends.

She and Bill enjoyed playing golf or bridge together, and she also liked to knit, the results of which were on exhibit almost every year at the State Fair of West Virginia.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill of 45 years; brother, John Tuckwiller; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Tuckwiller; and brother-in-law, Bill Simmons.

Survivors include her sister, Frances T. Simmons of Alderson, WV; brother, Sam Tuckwiller of Lewisburg, WV; sister-in-law, Joan M. Tuckwiller of Lewisburg; and many nieces and nephews, both on the Sweet and Tuckwiller sides of the family.

The family extends a special appreciation to Marie Green for her faithful health care service.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Emory Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home.
