Obituary for Richard Wolf Richard Wolf
Lexington Resident Was Senior Executive With Sotheby's For 25 Years

Richard Wolf, 62, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home in Lexington, Virginia after a battle with cancer.

He is survived by Nan Wolf, his wonderful wife of 40 years; two fantastic sons, Alexander and Christopher of Brooklyn, N.Y., the world's best daughter-in-law, Dominique Cammaert and grandson, Julian. Rick is also survived by his loving brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Dar Wolf of Ambler, Pa.

Rick graduated from Washington and Lee in 1977 with majors in English and art. He was co-chairman of the 1976 W&L Mock Convention and president of his social fraternity, Phi Kappa Sigma. While at college, Rick had the opportunity to be one of the early students to work with the Reeves Collection of Chinese Export and European Ceramics.

This experience and his studies with professor Pamela Simpson led to a 40-year career in the field of fine art and antiques auctions. Rick was a senior executive with Sotheby's for 25 years, working in New York and Los Angeles. When he and Nan decided to return to the East Coast, they chose to settle in the Shenandoah Valley, a place they loved from their days at W&L and Hollins. They moved to Lexington in 2010 and have enjoyed every minute of their time here amongst wonderful friends, neighbors and the very special folks of Rockbridge County.

Funeral arrangements are private to the family.
