He left school to work in restaurant management in several states and Grand Cayman, but returned to Roanoke and from 1987 to 1995, he was co-owner of the International Gourmet Shop at Cave Spring Corners.

In 2003, Reggie spent a year studying German at the Goethe-Institut in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany and continued language classes at Roanoke College, where he also enjoyed playing racquetball. Many remember the yellow 1979 VW van he drove until 2015.

He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald L. Kinman, Sr. and Mary Eugenia Hinton Kinman, a maternal aunt, Hazel Hinton Miller and his faithful canine companion, Nikki.

Survivors include two sisters, Dr. Linda Kinman Lipstate and her husband, Dr. James Lipstate of Lafayette, LA and Mary Alexis Kinman Hinchey and her husband, Ronald Wayne Hinchey of Troutville; 3 nieces, Sarah Elizabeth Lipstate of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Katherine Lipstate Maher of Lafayette, LA and Audrey Nicole Hinchey of Roanoke, three aunts, Roberta Kinman Brinkley of Independence, KY, Mollie Hinton Abadie of New Iberia, LA, and Dr. Marshall Sommers of Baton Rouge, LA and cousins in Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana and Texas.
