John Albert Clark, 80, of Lexington, Virginia died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his home.

Born February 2, 1938 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Charles Bowe Clark and Lottie Hartless Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Monroe Clark, and a grandson, Philip Conner.

John retired from the maintenance department of Rockbridge County, and was also a charter member of the Effinger Fire Department. He loved his horses and farming.

Surviving are his daughters, Virginia Louise Clark Conner and Holly Ann Clark Leech; a sister, Estelle C. Steele; a brother, Delmas V. Clark; seven grandchildren, Amanda and friend Mike, John and wife, Nicole, Matthew and friend, Liz, Jason and wife, Brandy Hostetter, Jade Conner and friend, Cody, Hank Leech and wife, Nikkie, and Blake Leech and friend, Desi; great-grand-daughters, Danielle, Jaycee, Jorgia and Harlii; and great-grandson, Harbour Leech.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Skip Hastings officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
