Obituary for Hugh Franklin Grow Hugh Franklin Grow
Virginia Tech Engineeering Graduate Was Rockbridge County Native

Hugh Franklin Grow died March 30, 2018 in Roanoke, Virginia at the age of 80.

Born November 29, 1937 in Rockbridge County, he grew up in the Wesley Chapel community.

He graduated from Virginia Tech with bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural engineering, and later earned an MBA from Wake Forest University.

The majority of his working career was with Gravely Tractor Company in Clemmons, N.C., where he worked as an environmental product engineer and later in litigation management. He finished his working career with his own company, ProMax Services, where he continued in litigation. He was an avid woodworker; he enjoyed making and learning to play unique musical instruments.

Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Bailey Grow; his brothers, Harold Grow and Edwin Grow; and his parents, Herbert Leslie Grow and Mary Louise Link Grow.

He is survived by his sons, York Douglas Grow and Lane Arthur Grow, their wives, 11 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Harrison Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
