Obituary for Roger Wayne Whitehead, Sr. Roger Wayne Whitehead, Sr.
Alleghany County Native Was Navy Veteran, Senior Tech Rep. For WestRock

Mr. Roger Wayne Whitehead, Sr., age 67, of Covington, Virginia died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his residence.

He was the husband of Marilyn Lee Snider Whitehead.

Mr. Whitehead was born October 26, 1950 in Alleghany County, the son of Norma Goode Whitehead and the late Ralph Franklin Whitehead, Sr.

A resident of this community for most of his life, he was a graduate of Alleghany High School, Class of 1969. Roger graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, where he earned associate degrees in both Business Management and Administration of Justice.

He served his country as a member of the United States Navy for eight years.

Mr. Whitehead was employed as a senior tech representative by WestRock Converting Plant in Low Moor.

Roger was member of the American Legion Post #4 and the National Rifle Association. He was a musician, motorcycle enthusiast and a long suffering New York Jets fan.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Whitehead is survived by a son, Roger Wayne Whitehead, Jr. and Wendy Duncan of Chesterfield; a daughter, Candice Whitehead Sizemore and husband, Bill of Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren, Roger "Trey" Whitehead, III, William Allen Sizemore, III, Richard Weylin Whitehead and Jenna Ryder Sizemore; a brother, Randal Kevin Whitehead of Fredericksburg; several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Charity, Amber, Afton and special nephew, Greg Knick.

In addition to his father, Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Franklin Whitehead, Jr. in 1983.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with members of his family officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers will be Roger Whitehead, Jr., Randal Whitehead, Bill Sizemore, Roger Whitehead, III, William Allen Sizemore, III and Richard Whitehead.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and request no home visitation.
