Ronald Leroy Potter, 82, of 300 Lacks Avenue, Covington, Virginia died Friday, June 29, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Potter was born March 8, 1936 in Alleghany County, a son of the late A. B. Potter and Myrtle Lawler Potter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Rhodes Potter in 2015; his son, Ronnie Potter, Jr.; one brother, William Potter and two sisters, Shirley Simpson and Helen Layne.

He was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp. in Covington and retired from Hercules, Inc.

He was a member of Covington Lodge #610, Loyal Order of Moose.

Surviving are two daughters, Robin Duncan and Julie Lawson, both of Covington; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Marlene Rhodes, several nieces and nephews and his "fur baby", Sophie.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
