Obituary for Ann Ewing Saunders Ann Ewing Saunders
Lexington Resident Dies At Age 78

Ann Ewing Saunders, 78, of Lexington, Virginia died peacefully at her home on July 24, 2018.

Born September 25, 1939 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late John Mackey Ewing and Rebecca Jeanette Craft Ewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Reeves Saunders, and a great-granddaughter, Briley Ann Sensabaugh.

Ann was a driven woman, who worked up until her latest illness. She was caring and kind, helping anyone in need. She cherished spending time with extended family. She loved caring for her pets and feeding and watching birds and squirrels in her yard. She also enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are her children, Rebecca Duncan Leitch and husband, William, Sherry Duncan Miller and husband, Ronnie, all of Lexington, Curtis Saunders and wife, Elaine of Indian Trail, N.C., Mary Ruth Saunders of Santa Monica, Calif., Charles Saunders and partner, Brian O'Malley of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Mary Jane Barrett and husband, Paul of Roanoke and Janet Ewing of Staunton; five grandchildren, Sara Sensabaugh, Jeff Conner, Emily Thomas, Reba Miller and Payton Miller; two great-grandchildren, Icelynn Sensabaugh and Kennedy Thomas; nieces and nephews, Ashlea Barrett Quill, Robert Paul Ewing Barrett, John Ewing Barrett, Ryan Blackwell Ewing, JaymeLee Ewing Moyers; and special friends, Sandy Engleman, Larry Wethington and Justin Guy.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Manly Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington by Dr. Michael Wilkins. There will be a gathering in the social hall following the service. Burial will be private.
