Delcie Chittum Rowsey, 91, of Buena Vista, Virginia was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Delcie was born September 20, 1926 to the late Henry M. Chittum and Virginia B. Chittum.

Mrs. Rowsey was a member of the First Brethren Church since March 19, 1950 (68 years).

Delcie is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lewis E. Rowsey. She was also preceded in death by children Lewis Embree Rowsey Jr. and Richard Montgomery Rowsey.

She was the last remaining child of eight, Eurcell Chittum, Bruce Chittum, Thurman Chittum, Hilmer Chittum, Ossie Coleman, Arletia Lightner, Margie Chittum. Delcie also had a grandson, who preceded her in death, Kenneth Franklin Rowsey.

Delcie is survived by her children, Franklin Douglas Rowsey and wife, Penny, Dale Lynn Rowsey and wife, Martha, Shawn Terrell Rowsey and wife, Sherry, Dawn Rowsey Golden and husband, Charles; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Angela Chittum; and many nieces, nephews and church family.

Special thanks to staff and caregivers from Maury River Health Care, Heritage Hall and Rockbridge Area Hospice.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 20, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bolling Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.

A funeral with the Rev. Mike Hamilton officiating will be Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
