Berland Edward (Doc) Bailey, 81, of 405 Baileys Road, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

He was born September 15, 1936 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Lacy and Nora Persinger Bailey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Bailey, Arnold Bailey and Robert "Babe" Bailey.

Mr. Bailey farmed most of his life and was a former employee of DD Kerns as a truck driver.

He was a member of Mountain Valley United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his two brothers, Ernest Bailey and Jim Bailey, both of Covington; six sisters, Nadine Tucker and her husband, Jim; Alice DePriest; Eldise Gilbert; Mary Austin; Jenny Kitt and her husband, Sam and Sue Menifee and her husband, Nathan, all of Covington; his special companion, Loriane Selleck of Covington and number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

The graveside service will be conducted Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Humphries Cemetery.
