Former Wal-Mart Baker Was Kentucky Native

Joyce Pearl Burchett May, 77, of 106 Whitney Road, Covington, Virginia died September 2, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. May was born March 2, 1941 in Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ovel Kenton Burchett and Ethel Lucille Burchett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita White, her mother-in-law, and other in-laws.

Joyce was a former baker at Wal-Mart in Indiana.

She loved to fish, cook, have a big garden with flowers and vegetables, and collect home interior items like figurines.

Surviving are her husband of 19 years, John Phillip May; four children, Tonya Borges of Covington, Jeff Hendrick of Warm Springs, Kenton Hendrick and wife, Kelly of Indianapolis, IN and Troy Reason Sr. and wife, Georganna of Elgin, SC; four step children, Elizabeth May and fiance, Jeremiah Pattison of Clifton Forge, Teresa Simmons and husband, Carl, Charlotte Hepler and husband, Lonnie, and Phillip Wayne May and wife, Tina, all of Covington; a number of grandchildren to include Amber Puckett and Shelby Puckett, both of Covington, and many others she held dear to her heart; a number of great grandchildren to include Aiden Puckett, Grace Borges, and Patrick Borges as well as many others; a number of step grandchildren; a sister, Geneva McDole of Anderson, IN; two brothers, Dale Burchett and wife, Donna of Monrovia, IN and Edgar Burchett and wife, Sally of Swazee, IN; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated.

A memorial service has been scheduled at a later date.

The Arritt Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
