Retired VDOT Employee Was Warm Springs Resident

Calvin Cornelius Robertson Sr., 88, of Warm Springs, Virginia passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Bath Community Hospital. He was born July 18, 1930, the son of the late Rev. George Russell and Catherine (Green) Robertson.

Calvin was a lifetime member of the Chimney Run Church of the Brethren, where he served the Lord faithfully as deacon, Sunday school superintendent, member of the choir, and as lay speaker for over two years when the church was without a minister. He maintained the church lawn for many years.

He had worked for Virginia Department of Transportation for 28 years. He was a member and spokesperson for the gospel group "Chimney Run Inspirations." Calvin loved to fish, hunt, camp and spend time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Kline and Annie Wolfe; two brothers, Ervin and Paul Robertson; granddaughter, Pam Robertson; and great-granddaughter, Raelyn Ryder.

Calvin is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 66 years, Betty (Ryder) Robertson, of Warm Springs; 10 children, Calvin C. Robertson Jr. and wife, Brenda of Hot Springs, Tommy Robertson and wife, Mary of Millboro, Danny Robertson and wife, Kathy of Warm Springs, Sharon Miller and husband, Larry of Churchville, Patricia Peery and husband, Gray of Hot Springs, Norma Angell and husband, Glen of Covington, George Robertson and wife, Bonnie of Millboro, Ronnie Robertson and wife, Cherie of Hot Springs, Dennis Robertson and wife, Nina of Augusta Springs, and Randy Robertson and girlfriend, Sarah of Warm Springs; grandson Joshua Robertson, whom he helped raise; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two sisters Montique D'Ottavio of New Jersey and Marybelle Ailstock of Warm Springs; two brothers, Leroy Robertson and Ira Robertson, both of Warm Springs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Chimney Run Church of the Brethren with Pastor Billy Robertson officiating and will be assisted by Pastors David George and Donald Lee Altizer. Interment will follow in the Robertson Family Cemetery. A meal will be served following the interment at Chimney Run Church.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Burger, Matthew Robertson, Anthony Kay, Jonathan Robertson, Joseph Robertson, Kevin Robertson, Brian Cauley, Clinton Cauley, Joshua Robertson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
