Lexington Resident Dies At Age 80

Mildred Jane Smith Coleman went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 12, 2018.

Born on December 25, 1947 in Lexington, she was a lifelong resident of Rockbridge County.

She was the daughter of Martha Bennington Smith and the late Ora Delmar Smith.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Wayne Smith.

Surviving are her husband, Everette S. Coleman; her son, Kevin Bennington and wife, Cheryl; stepson, Chad Coleman; brother, Del Smith and wife, Sherry; sister, Marty Sensabaugh and husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Trina Almeda, Brian Frazier and wife, Cynthia; as well as her extended family of nieces and nephews.

Millie was retired from Schewel Furniture Co. in Lexington, where she was credit manager. She was previously in the banking industry.

The family would like to thank Pastor Arnold Bradley and the Rev. Ben Dowling for their many visits. Their wonderful conversations about the Lord and the comfort they brought meant so much to her. Also her dear friends who faithfully visited and called brought her so much joy.

Millie had a great love for all animals. Many strays were brought home throughout her life and cared for.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
