Alleghany County Native Was Self-Employed Logger, Longtime Burns Motor Freight Driver

Jesse Thomas (TomCat) Kimberlin, Sr., age 80, of Mallow Road in Covington, Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018.

TomCat was born on July 30, 1938 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Jess and Gussie Knighton Kimberlin.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Vivian Humphries Kimberlin, who passed away on December 23, 2017.

He is survived by two sons, Jesse T. Kimberlin, Jr. and fiance, Diana Dunleavy, Hardy, and Charles "Chuckie" Kimberlin and wife, Sarah; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Rex Selleck, Sandy and Andy Bates and Sonya and Jeff Romanello, all of Covington. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: April Dickey (Tom), Midlothian, Jamie Kimberlin (Melissa), Melinda Selleck (Shawn Bush), Marissa Selleck (Brandon Jackson), Jessie Selleck (Kayleigh Long), Chuckie Kimberlin (Ashley), Ashley Carr (Corey), Candon Humphries (Tad), Josh Kimberlin (Miranda) and Ryan Romanello, all of Covington; former daughter-in-law, Kelley Kimberlin of Chesterfield; seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Ava, Savannah, Tyson, Devon, Peyton and Logan and two more on the way. He is also survived by his care provider, Holly Gonzalez.

TomCat was a self-employed logger at an early age and logged for over 20 years before becoming a truck driver with Burns Motor Freight with over 40 years of dedicated service. He worked until the age of 75. He enjoyed hanging out at Edgemont Service Station and talking to everyone he met. He enjoyed spending time with his family and listening to bluegrass music.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Good News Christian Fellowship Church with Pastors Ralph Hubbard, Barry Daniel and Sam Felton officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Jessie Selleck, Jamie Kimberlin, Josh Kimberlin, Timmy Goodbar, Darrell Via, Terry Simpson, Aaron Persinger and Norman Harris. Alternate pallbearers will be Tad Humphries, Brandon Jackson and Shawn Bush.

A dinner will be served after the burial at Good News Church, hosted by the church along with New Hope Baptist Church.
