John Edward Martin, III, 76, of Covington, Virginia died on December 15, 2018 following a brief illness.

He was the husband of the late Judith Mann Martin, also of Covington, Virginia.

Known to many as "Buddy," he was a graduate of Watson High School. Mr. Martin was retired from Westrock, where he was employed for 42 years.

John was also a member of Pine Street Baptist Church.

Two of his three daughters, affectionately known as The Three C's, Cheri Martin and Casi Martin (Christopher) Staton, both of Covington, Virginia, survive their "Daddy." His four beloved grandchildren, Haven Victoria, Caris Cherice, Corinne Marie and Christopher Jr. also remain to cherish their "Pop" as he rests in peace.

His mother-in-law, a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins remain to celebrate memories of and with "Buddy."

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Barry, and eldest daughter, Candice "Candy" (Martin) Jackson. Mr. Martin was also predeceased by his late parents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Martin, Jr.

Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers, condolence cards and letters be sent to Loving Funeral Home, 350 North Maple Avenue, Covington, Virginia 24426.

A private, family service will be held at a later date.
