Patricia (Pat) Lee Massie Mackey, 80, of Lexington, Virginia died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born on January 18, 1938 in Lexington, the daughter of Paul Lee Massie and Grace Merchant Massie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Crawford Mackey, and one son, Gregory Allen Mackey.

Surviving are three children, Paul G. Mackey of Decatur, Ga., Cheryl D. Mackey and Yvon Durrell Mackey of Lexington, and Patrick K. Mackey of Virginia Beach; one sister, Dolores Campbell of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, Jerry C. Massie of Lexington; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Massie became a member of Randolph Street United Methodist Church at an early age and served as an usher and a member of the DWW choir.

She was employed by Stonewall Jackson Hospital as a certified nursing assistant for 30 plus years, Kendal at Lexington for five years and Heritage House of Lexington for two years. She also served as a personal caretaker of Joan Manley of Lexington for 20 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Deacon David Dunn. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Harrison Funeral Home.
