Rita Louise Thomas, 88, of Lewisburg, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at home.

Rita was born November 12, 1930 in Elkins to the late Oscar Ralph and Hallie Canfield Kyle.

She was a retired teacher, having taught in high schools and at New River Community and Technical College in Lewisburg.

Rita was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Carl Edward Thomas in 2015.

Surviving include her brother, Lawrence R. Kyle of Elkins; two nephews, Thomas (Kathy) of Howell, MI; Edward (Jum) of Alexandria, VA; niece, Linda Thomas of Roanoke, VA; two dear friends, Vivian Longanacre and Frances Richardson and many other good friends in VA, MD and WV.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Tim Halloran officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Elkins Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
