Lexington Resident Dies At Age 91

William Joseph (Bill) Duffy Jr., 91, of Lexington, Virginia was called to his heavenly home Monday, May 13, 2019.

He loved people and will be greatly missed.

He was born February 19, 1928 in Albemarle County, Greenwood, a son of the late William J. Duffy and Mary Elizabeth Sandy Duffy.

Bill worked at Alexander's Orchard in Fairfield for over 40 years, where he served as manager for 30 years of that time. After the closing of the orchard, Bill worked in sales at Hamilton Equipment in Raphine for 16 years before retiring.

He served his country in the Army in Germany with the 7th Army Division in Heavy Equipment Maintenance Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Katherine "Kitty" Lynch Duffy in September of 2000; also by two brothers, Don and David Duffy; a sister, Betty Ann Duffy Williams, and a half-sister, Faith Duffy.

He is survived by a son, Patrick Steven "Steve" Duffy and his companion, Wanda Falls; three half-brothers, Mike, Kevin and Chuck Duffy; and a very special half-sister, Karen Duffy Miles.

As per Bill's wishes, he will be cremated with burial in Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville at a later date.
