Rich Patch Union Church Member Dies At Age 101

Lucille Agnes Nida Freels, age 101, of 8404 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center, Low Moor.

A light of love too quickly extinguished in this world, is now shining brightly in heaven above.

She was born July 11, 1917 in Alleghany County to the late William O. Nida and Nellie Scott Nida.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Rich Patch Union Church.

Her greatest pleasures in life were going on picnics with her family, long rides with her husband, her church, little baby peeper frogs, baby ducks, yellow flowers and a big old blue Caddie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Enoch "Bill" Freels in November 1997; a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" May; two brothers, Wilber O. Nida and William Nida; a daughter in law, Mary Freels; a great grandson, Zachary Freels and a great great granddaughter, Lucille Harmon-Shaffer.

She is survived by four sons, William E. "Bill" Freels and wife, Sarah of Fort Ashby, West Virginia, Richard A. "Dickie" Freels and fiance, Rita of Low Moor, James R. "Bobby" Freels and wife, MaryJane of Kitts Hill, Ohio, Jerry Lee Freels and wife, Donna of Rich Patch; 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and special friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery, Covington. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
