Obituary for Robert (Bobby) Powell Taylor Robert (Bobby) Powell Taylor
Rockbridge County Native Was "Blues" Running Back, Decorated Marine Corps Veteran

Robert (Bobby) Powell Taylor, 72, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away May 31, 2019 at Salem VA Medical Center.

He was born in Rockbridge County on November 28, 1946, and was a lifelong resident of Buena Vista.

Bobby attended Parry McCluer High School and was a running back for the Fighting Blues.

Bobby was a decorated Vietnam War era veteran, who served his country as a Corporal for the United States Marine Corps. He was a loyal and dedicated crane operator for the railroad and retired from Norfolk Southern after 33 years of service.

Bobby was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracey Taylor, and granddaughters, Megan and Maura Flint. Bobby is also survived by his loving brother, Aubrey "Aldridge" Taylor; a loving sister, Patsy Tolley; son, Robert "George" Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Taylor; parents, Aubrey and Margaret Taylor; and siblings, Virginia Taylor, Ernest "Buck" Taylor, Peggy Higgins, Margaret "JoAnn" McNeil, Della Noel and Walter Taylor.

At Bobby's request there will be no services. The family requests donations of time visiting veterans at the CLC at the Salem VA be made in lieu of flowers.
