Alleghany County Jail Clerk Dies At Age 55

Peggy Gabbert Redmon, 55, of 1535 Todd St., Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional in Low Moor.

Ms. Redmon was born January 26, 1964 in Covington, the daughter of the late Vern E. Gabbert Sr. and Vivian Pugh Gabbert.

Peggy worked for the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office as a Jail clerk. She was also a member of Good News Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Brooke Hiner and husband, Junior; a granddaughter, Catie Lipes; a grandson, Jayden Hiner; a special friend, Paul Lilly; three sisters, Kathy Gabbert Carson and husband, Lance, Virginia Hogg and husband, Ronald, and Pat "Punk" Tabor, all of Covington; two brothers, Vern Gabbert Jr. and wife, Donna of Plano, TX and Champ Griffith of Covington; a niece, Russie Gann and husband, Drew of Richmond; and a nephew, Seth Lamb of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews and the Charlotte Redmon family.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Good News Church with the Rev. Steve Noel Officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday and at other times at Brooke's residence at 314 E. Hawthorne St. or Kathy's residence at 1202 N. Pocahontas Ave., Covington, Virginia.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Peggy's name to Good News Church at 214 S. Lexington Ave., Covington, VA 24426. The online guest registration is available at arrittfuneralhome.com.
