Obituary for Stephen Wayne Brackman Stephen Wayne Brackman
Former Covington Resident Was CHS, Johnson Bible College Graduate

Stephen Wayne Brackman, 44, of Greenville, TN, died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in the Holston Valley Medical Center at Kingsport, TN.

Mr. Brackman was born October 11, 1974 in Covington, a son of Clinda Joy Spence Weeks of Covington and the late Rev. Emory W. Brackman.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lewis Weeks in 2016; grandfathers, Clate Brackman in 2007 and Russell Spence in 1999 and his grandmother, Glenna Humphries Brackman in 1986.

Stephen was a 1992 graduate of Covington High School, where he was in the Marching Band and Symphonic Band, was the manager of the varsity baseball team and a member of the yearbook staff. He was a 1999 graduate of Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications and Biblical Studies.

He was currently employed as a front desk agent at the Hampton Inn in Morristown, TN.

He was an avid sports fan cheering for his favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs, Tennessee Volunteers and Washington Redskins. He enjoyed preaching on occasion, following in his father's footsteps. He was currently a member of Smoky Mountain Christian Church, where he was on the worship team and served as a Deacon. He grew up in his father's church, Dunlap Christian Church at Crows in Alleghany County.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Tracey Wade Brackman of Greenville, TN; his son, Andrew Brackman and his daughter, Amber Brackman, both of Sevierville, TN; his step-daughter, Paige Davis and her husband, Brant of Greenville, TN; his brother, Jonathan Brackman of Covington; his maternal grandmother, Bondean Spence of Lewisburg, WV; uncles and aunts, Rev. Everette and Sandra Defibaugh of Lewisburg, WV and Jim and Terry Brackman of Covington; and several cousins, including Elizabeth Devito and her husband, Ray and their children, Julian and Ellie, all of Pittsburgh, Pa, and Kelly Brackman Shook and her husband, R.D. of Roanoke; and also several cousins.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating assisted by the Rev. Everette Defibaugh.

Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
