Vietnam War Veteran Was CSX Machinist

Thomas Michael (Mike) Goode, age 75, of 1015 Claytor Place, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.

Mike was born on March 10, 1944 in Clifton Forge to the late Wirt Montague Goode and Leigh Hall Goode.

He served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a machinist for CSX Transportation.

He was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge B.P.O.E., the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge, and the North Mountain Beagle Hunt Club. He dedicated over 14 years of his life as a campground host and in administration of Lake Moomaw in Bath County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Cortney Landrum.

In addition to the love of his life, Sylvia Reynolds of Covington, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa Phillips and husband, Kevin of South Carolina; a step daughter, Stephanie Taylor; a step son, Lance Lloyd; two grandchildren, Alisha Holder and Justin Phillips; two great grandchildren, Addison Holder and Ansley Holder; and a step granddaughter, Anneliese Callow.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A private service will be held at a later date.

Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements.
