Covington Native Dies At Age 29

Cassie Amber Walters Harrison, age 29, of Covington, Virginia, on September 27, 2019 in Altavista, went to the Lord and her Heavenly Father.

Cassie was born to Kathlene Kennedy Downey and Glen Michael DePaola on December 14, 1989 with her twin brother, Corey Arron Walters, who preceded her in death, May 19, 1990.

She was a student at Alleghany High School. Cassie carried a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Science and Counseling. She loved the world of arts to include her paintings, tattoos, playing guitar and writing poetry. Her absolute favorite activity was tickle-time with her four children, who she loved with all her heart. She loved wildflowers, elephants and the color purple.

She is survived by two sons, Nylow Arron-Keith Wright, Nicoh Jaymz Sink; two daughters, Nixi-Marie Sink, Peyton Foreverlyn Haseldon; four stepchildren, Kaitlyn Wright, Joey Wright, Nevaeh Sink, David Harrison; one brother, Cody Robert Walters (Lindsay); two stepbrothers, Eric DePaola and James "Trey" Downey III (Angel).

She is survived by her father, Glen Michael DePaola and fiancee, Janet; her stepfathers, Layne Kay Walters and James Ernest "Ernie" Downey, II, who raised her; Cassie's maternal grandparents, H. Wayne Miller and Donna Dressler Miller; uncles, Michael Kennedy (Sonya), Mathew Kennedy (Yvonne); and aunts, Deborah Darby (David) and Sandra Massey (Chris).

In addition to her twin brother, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Homer "Butch" Kennedy; her uncle, Nathaniel Kennedy; and her aunt, Susan Kennedy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
