Retired National Park Service Clerk Dies At Age 71
Penny Lynn Whiting Jones, 71, of 3815 Dunlap Creek Road, Covington, Virginia died Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.
She was born December 5, 1947 in Zenia, Ohio, a daughter of the late George and Jean Grant Whiting.
She retired as a clerk for the National Park Service in Springfield.
She was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Michael C. Jones, of Covington; two sisters-in-law, Linda White and her husband, Steve of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Lora Thompson, and her husband, Howard of Covington; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.
A family gathering will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home for the family to receive their friends.
The family suggests that memorials in Penny's name be made to the New Life Fellowship Church.
