Navy Veteran Worked With Bulldog Construction Company

Eugene Curtis (Sammy) Dressler, Jr., 63, of Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.

He was born April 28, 1956 in Alleghany County, the son of Patty Marie Smith Alexander of Glendale, AZ and the late E.C. "Doodlebug" Dressler, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry May Dressler and a step brother, Dusty Lowen.

Sammy worked with his father at Bulldog Construction for number of years and was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Teresa Anderson Dressler of Covington; a sister, Jeannie "Peewee" Fisher of Glendale, AZ; a step mother, Hallie Miller Dressler of Covington, two step sisters, Pat Bowling and husband, Aubrey and Cindee Stinnett and husband, George, all of Covington; two uncles, C. E. Dressler Jr. and wife, Margaret and H. L. Dressler and wife, Amelia, all Covington; and a number nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.

A service will be at a later date.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
