Obituary for Richard Allen (Dickie) Freels Richard Allen (Dickie) Freels
Former CSX Foreman Was Air Force Veteran, Longtime Shriner

Richard Allen (Dickie) Freels, age 74, of 9815 Rich Patch Road, Low Moor, Virginia died Saturday, October 19, 2019 at his residence.

He was born July 18, 1945 in Covington, Virginia to the late Wilbur Enoch Freels and Lucille Nida Freels.

He was a retired round house foreman for CSX Transportation. He was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge #166 A.F & A.M Kazim Shrine Temple, the Clifton Forge Shrine Club, and the American Legion Post 4. Dickie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cooking especially for the Clifton Forge Shrine Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fridley Freels and a sister, Margaret "Peggy" May.

He is survived by his fiancee, Rita Anderson of Low Moor; two daughters, Staci Craft and husband, Scott of Clifton Forge, Tara Myers of Covington; three brothers, William E. "Bill" Freels and wife, Sarah of Fort Ashby, West Virginia, James R. "Bobby" Freels and wife, Mary Jane of Kitts Hill, Ohio, Jerry Lee Freels and wife, Donna of Rich Patch; four grandchildren, Mason and Sam Craft, Maddi and Reese Myers; a host of special friends and hunting buddies; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with Revered Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow. Military Rites will be presented by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Covington. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, and other times at his residence. Masonic Rites will be presented by Clifton Forge Lodge #166 A.F & A.M at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening during visitation at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Kazim Crippled Children's Hospital.
