Virginia Craggs Skaggs died peacefully in Richmond, Virginia on October 29, 2019 at the age of 90.

Virginia is survived by two children, Kim Skaggs (Debbie) of Richmond, VA and Ginnie Gick (Dan) of Clarksville, MD; siblings, Jo Ninnis (Jim) and Emma Wilson (Bob), Carol Berger (sister-in-law), all of Richmond, Doug Craggs and Judy Craggs of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Braun (Tom) of Broomfield, CO.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richard "Dick" Skaggs and son, Richard "Rick" Skaggs II, both of Lewisburg, WV; siblings, Henry Berger, Jr. of Richmond, VA and Charles Berger, of Savannah, GA.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Melissa Carter of Lewisburg, Michael Gallagher of Richmond, Morgan Berbert (Hayden) of Powhatan, VA, Emilie, Adam and Andrew Gick of Clarksville, MD and one great-grandchild, Cohen Berbert.

In addition to her grandchildren, Virginia adored her many nieces and nephews: Betty Gale Hamrick (Bernie, deceased), Jennifer Huffman (Cliff), Brenda Olmstead, Kimberly Hooker, Charles Berger, Cameron Berger, Jim Ninnis (Lisa), Stacy Woodell (Darren), Tom Humrickhouse (Shannon), Mary Beth Humrickhouse (Jonathan Nelson), and Kelly Braun (Haun Soe-Lin).

Virginia was born on June 29, 1929 in Lewisburg, WV to Vernon Craggs and Virginia Stacy Craggs.

She attended Hannah More Academy in Baltimore, MD and business school in Richmond, VA.

She married Richard Skaggs in on February 25, 1950 at Old Stone Presbyterian Church. They raised their three children on their farm (Park Grove Farm) in Greenbrier County and Virginia kept the financial books for the farm and Park Grove Farm Feed Store.

Virginia will be remembered as a talented cook and a lover of animals. She was an extraordinarily thoughtful and generous lady who was fiercely dedicated to her family. She was a lifelong member of the Old Stone Church, as well as a member of the Lewisburg PEO chapter and a member of the Women of the Church.

The family will receive visitors from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, 884 Jefferson Street North, Lewisburg, WV. A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3rd at Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, WV with burial at Rosewood Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Virginia's life.
