Obituary for Leonard Melvin (Fox) Wright Leonard Melvin (Fox) Wright
Bricklayer, Tilesetter Was Mallow Presbyterian Church Member

Leonard Melvin (Fox) Wright, 78, of 448 Winding Way Drive, Covington, Virginia passed peacefully Sunday morning, November 24, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Wright was born August 23, 1941 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Samuel J. and Zetta Wright Wright.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of the International Bricklayers Union for over 50 years and worked for various contractors as a bricklayer and tilesetter.

He was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church.

Fox was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially Richard Petty and also anyone who drove a Ford. He was a big fan of Duke basketball, the New York Yankees and the Covington Lumberjacks baseball teams. He was a hard-worker and enjoyed helping people.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Shirley Powell Wright of Covington; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Johnny Murray of Covington; his special granddaughter, Sarah Quinlin and her husband, Johnny of Roanoke; a great granddaughter, Bailey Quinlin of Roanoke; two sisters, Marie Gaines and Lula Bowen, both of Covington; his sister-in-law, Peggy Shinault and her husband, Thornton of Covington; his brother-in-law, Billy Powell and his wife, Becky of Covington and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Mallow Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
