Suzanne Legg Read of Lexington, Virginia, died peacefully November 23, 2019.

Born June 7, 1938, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Mary Jane Fletcher and William Beal Hibbs Legg.

She was a 1957 graduate of the Knox School and attended Garland Junior College in Boston. She was married to the late Col. Beverly Money Read and is survived by three children, Reid Perry of Charlotte, N.C., Brooke Spicer of Rocky Mount, and Kirk Read of San Francisco, Calif. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.

She was a lifelong volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Rockbridge SPCA, Meals on Wheels, PFLAG and many local organizations. She loved gardening, family and always had a pair of English Springer Spaniels.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery at 2 p.m. A reception will be held at the family home at 305 S. Jefferson St. in Lexington. All are welcome.
