"Feisty Spark Plug" Had Infectious Laugh

Sandra Carol Phillips, 69, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Hot Springs, January 19, 1950, the only child of the late Lida (Daniels) and Robert Brinkley.

In January 1969, she married Rocky Phillips.

A 1969 graduate of Valley High School, Sandra attended Hollywood Beauty School in Roanoke, becoming a hair stylist. She was a "feisty spark plug" and will be remembered for her infectious laugh that could make everyone smile. Always willing to lend a hand, she spent many years volunteering with the Bath County Christmas Mother and the Bloodmobile. Sandra attended Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church.

Sandra enjoyed planting flowers, working in her yard, dancing, shopping and spending time each year at the beach. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and adored time spent with them.

The backbone of her family, she will be missed by her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Rocky of Hot Springs; as well as two sons, Rocklynn Jay Phillips and wife, Amy of Warm Springs and Kenneth Michael Phillips of Hot Springs; grandsons, Justin, Cody, Rocklynn and Nate Phillips; granddaughter, Lexi Wilfong; and great-grandson, Bentley Phillips.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church with pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.

The Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
